Marcus Banks, Jr chosen as Lou Henson National Player of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- University of Massachusetts’ Marcus Banks has been named the Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week. The 6-foot-3 senior led the Minutemen to a pair of wins last week.
On Wednesday, he matched his season-high with 29 points, including clutch free throws in the closing seconds, of a 76-74 win over Boston College. Banks also pulled down seven rebounds. On Saturday, the transfer from UMBC scored 18 points as UMass rallied back to knock off Florida State. For the week he shot 54% from the field, including 52.2% from beyond the arc.
The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in division I college basketball. The award voting panel is made up of current division I coaches, athletic administrators & College Insider staff members.
